Hello PenFed Agents!
As many of you know, Dallas County issued a shelter in place order effective at 11:59 PM today, March 23. We understand the big question right now is what happens with any contracts scheduled to close after tomorrow in Dallas County. At this time, the title companies we’ve spoken to are operating and plans to close transactions as scheduled. The title company’s understanding is that they are an essential business and their service will remain uninterrupted. Please note, the Texas Department of Insurance, the governing body over title companies, has not issued an official stance as of this recording. Should we hear anything different, we will let you know right away. And if you have a closing scheduled in Dallas County after today, please reach out to the title company on the contract to confirm they plan to continue serving clients. The next major question is about movers. Every moving company we’ve spoken to interprets their business as a part of the transportation industry and therefore an essential business. Please recommend your clients call their moving company to confirm. As we all know, things are sometimes changing hour by hour. We will communicate with you as quickly as possible should we learn anything different. And if you hear anything different, please share it with me or your manager. The last item I have for you to right now is the recently released TAR COVID-19 Addendum. The TAR Addendum may be downloaded here. Please read this and understand that it offers protection to both parties surrounding COVID-19. In light of the Dallas County shelter in place order, we recommend the use of this form on any future executed contracts. On any contracts recently executed or pending, you might consider talking to the other agent and implement this addendum to protect both parties. We will continue to bring you any new information as rapidly as possible. We do recommend that you comply with the Dallas County order. Our Dallas office will be closed as of 11:59 pm tonight. Please reach out to us with any questions. Our entire team is here to support you as we learn more.
