Recent Updates

Hi PenFed Agents, We want to keep you informed of the recent updates in regards to what our government and realtor associations are considering an essential business and how this impacts you.  At this time, there is no statewide shelter in place order so we must evaluate county by county. There are two recently released updates we wanted to ensure you reviewed.

COLLIN COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

Collin County Association of Realtors (CCAR) released the attached statement on Friday for the counties of Collin County, Dallas County, Denton County, Rockwall County, Frisco and McKinney.

Excerpt from CCAR (Full Document Below) What does this mean for my real estate activities?

First, at all times, ensure that you abide by the 6/10 rule.*  If you cannot operate your business by ensuring that rule, you should not operate. Real estate services and REALTOR® operations continue in Collin, Denton, Tarrant, and Rockwall Counties as they have prior to the shelter in place orders. In Dallas County, you must stay at home and cannot leave your home for any service or anything other than what is deemed essential as outlined in the order.

Scenarios:

  1. If you live in Collin, Denton, Tarrant, Rockwall or any other Counties you cannot show a house in Dallas County.

  2. If you live in Collin, Denton, Tarrant or Rockwall Counties you can show houses minding the 6/10 rule* in Collin, Denton, Tarrant, and Rockwall Counties.

  3. If you live in Dallas County, you cannot show anything inside or outside of your county. You must stay at home. The 6/10 rule means that business can be conducted so long as you remain six feet away from interacting with others and in a capacity of less than 10 people in a given area. Practice social distancing at all times).

CISA HOMELAND SECURITY

CISA Homeland Security updated their list of essential services on March 28th to include real estate services as essential. Individual jurisdictions can still add or subtract based on their discretion.  You can review Homeland Security's full document here.

THE BOTTOM LINE

It is PenFed Realty Texas’ recommendation you make every attempt to limit face-to-face interactions as much as possible by utilizing virtual tools when feasible.  You and your clients' health are most important and we encourage you to honor the spirit and intent of the shelter-in-place orders.

Based on the updated guidelines provided by Homeland Security, it is our understanding that you can choose to show homes as long as you follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing in all counties except Dallas CountyDallas County included specific language that in person showings are not allowed.

Open Houses should be avoided in all counties until further notice.

Please reach out to us with any questions.  Our hope is to share guidance on how you can continue to run your businesses safely and effectively while honoring the spirit and intent of the recent governmental orders.  Please know we will be in touch with additional information as soon as we know more.
