[JOE AGENT] here with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty Texas &

I wanted to touch on something really quick that kind of ties into a previous video

regarding Homestead Exemptions. To recap, a Homestead Exemption is important

because it effectively limits the value amount that the County can tax you on for

property taxes. As great as that is, it is also important to understand HOW the County

assesses a value for your property so that you can do everything possible to lower your

tax impact.

Issuing a property value for your home includes a couple different assumptions by

the County Tax Assessor. First, using “comparable” recent sold properties in your

neighborhood or area, they arrive at a general price range for your home. Then,

narrowing down things like bedroom count, square footage & year built, the county

adjusts the price to reach your new, annual value.

The methods used by the County open a couple different doors to protest your property value in an effort to lower the value & in-turn lower your taxes. Referring to the finish-

out, any out-of-date or damaged items & gathering more accurate comparable sales to

present to the County can save you a lot of money each year. As an area agent, I have the resources, knowledge & experience to help you fight your property taxes. In a short call I can gather the necessary details to research & see if a lower home value can be achieved for you property. Give me a call to get started & let’s fight your taxes!
