Hi everyone! [JOE AGENT] here with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty Texas. So, obviously there are a lot of different things to consider when getting ready to sell your home & buy a new one. One of the trickier items to ensure you’re prepared for is moving from one residence to another. This is something that can really become a pain point if the timeline doesn’t match up perfectly. Here are a couple things you might not think about in regards to moving, to help you better prepare for a busy day.
If you are working with a reputable agent, ask them for referrals! Get contact information for reliable companies to assist you with relocating your items to the new house. Once you have the info, schedule your movers as far in advance as possible to ensure you’re covered on the big day. Make sure you discuss any needed moving insurance, disclose any oversized/heavily weighed items & map out a reliable route to the new location that avoids heavy traffic or any construction areas.
Prior to moving day, make sure to organize the shutoff of your utilities at your current residence, and the beginning of them at your next. Nothing is more frustrating than finding yourself without TV, internet or even electricity at your new house….oh, and don’t forget to update your mailing address!
In this same vein, while you’re thinking about it, update other instrumental documentation such as your driver’s license, vehicle registration & voter registration.
The final tip is to take this opportunity to de-clutter. Moving offers a unique chance to clean out items in your house that you might not need or even want. Take this time to recycle old appliances & furniture that you don’t want making the move with you to your new home.
Moving is exciting & taking a proactive approach to these items will help your experience be as enjoyable as possible. When you’re ready to find your next moving destination, give me a call, I would be honored to help you. Thanks & have a great day!
